Tampa Bay Rays infielder Wander Franco, who awaits trial within the Dominican Republic over sexual abuse allegations, was arrested within the nation for his involvement in an armed altercation, police stated Monday.
The incident occurred within the parking zone in San Juan de la Maguana, Dominican police spokesperson Meregirdo Espinosa informed the Related Press. The baseball participant was arrested Sunday together with one other man and lady. Police stated two firearms had been seized.

Espinosa stated one of many weapons presumably belonged to Franco, who was allegedly combating with the person over the girl’s consideration. Police didn’t say whether or not there have been accidents.
The Rays didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark from Fox Information Digital.
Franco, 23, missed the complete 2024 season after he was positioned on the restricted record relating to the alleged sexual abuse of a 14-year-old woman. He was additionally charged with industrial exploitation towards a minor and human trafficking.

He’s scheduled to go to trial on Dec. 12.
Franco has refused to talk to the media. He’s solely stated, “All the pieces is in God’s arms.”
He agreed to an 11-year, $182 million contract in November 2021. He has not performed in a recreation since Aug. 12, 2023.
